Kate Umlang

 

I started teaching piano lessons privately in 2011 while I was a student at the University of Texas. My students range in age from 5 to 14 years old, introductory to intermediate playing levels. I have an extensive background in music theory including classical piano training, contemporary guitar, years of choir, and personal voice coaching.

​Every year we hold a winter and a spring recital. Lessons are done at a set day and time every week at my home studio. They are 30 minutes long. I charge $30/lesson, and tuition is due at the start of every month. I accept students of all levels starting in kindergarten up through seniors in high school (I do not teach adults). Having a keyboard or piano at home is required to be able to practice between lessons.

 

I have a special ability to work with young and inexperienced students. I am the perfect teacher for a student that is just being introduced to the world of piano. I am also a great teacher for those students who have a light background but are just starting to be re-introduced to the piano.

 

I love working with children. I love seeing the look of accomplishment and pride in my students' eyes when they master a new song or grasp a new concept. Children are imaginative and creative and to give them an outlet to be artistic brings me such joy. Piano is a skill that truly lasts a lifetime.
